This project aims to replace the CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk unit of competency with the CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk unit to ensure they are aligned with national, state and territory regulatory requirements.

There are 12 qualifications which currently include the superseded unit, several of which are in high demand. Replacing the unit will enable graduates to be equipped to protect children and young people from the risk of harm, abuse and neglect.

As a result of these changes the CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk unit of competency was superseded by CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk but it has has not been incorporated into 12 qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package.

The new unit has a broader scope, explicitly addresses various types of abuse and enhances understanding of protective factors. It emphasises practical application and includes engagement techniques which better equip practitioners to address child protection issues across complex contexts. Replacing the old unit with the new unit will equip graduates with the necessary skills to protect children and young people from the risk of harm, abuse and neglect..
